This seminar surveys recent developments of the entry of banks into insurance – either insurance brokerage or underwriting of insurance. This development has major implications to the insurance industry as a whole and insurance agents and brokers in particular. Insurance agents and brokers may see and entirely new competitive force and may need to restructure their way of doing business to compete with it effectively. Or, insurance agents and brokers may choose to be acquired by a bank or otherwise become associated with a bank to facilitate their insurance production efforts.
