The American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA) and the Asian Real Estate Society are pleased to announce their joint international to be held June 30 and July 3, 2006 in Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. This combined event bring academics, practitioners and policymakers from around the world together in one of the world’s most beautiful cities to present, hear, and discuss the new research findings in the areas of urban economics, real estate markets, real estate finance, development and investment, and housing. In addition to paper sessions covering current theoretical and applied research, the conference will feature a number of special panel discussion sessions.
Location

The conference will take please in Vancouver, BC, Canada’s major west coast city and the site of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The city is a sensational conference city. It has consistently been ranked as one of the top ten tourist destinations in the world, and was recently designated by the UN as the safest major city in the world. July is an excellent time to visit Vancouver, with average daily high temperatures of 23NC (74NF) and less than 4cm or 2” of rain over the course of the month.
In addition to the natural beauty and tourist destinations, the city is blessed with a large number of first-rate Chinese, Japanese, and West-Coat restaurants at prices that are reasonable in comparison to North American cities.

Vancouver is the closest major North American city to Asia with regularly scheduled non-stop air-service to Amsterdam, Beijing, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, Manila, Mexico City, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai, Taipei, Tokyo, and all major US hubs.
British Columbia is blessed a wide variety of incredible natural outdoor tourist destinations. From Vancouver, day excursions are possible by ferry to Victoria and Vancouver Island, including Buchart Gardens and two hours by car is Whistler/Blackcomb, North America’s top-ranked ski destination and year round resort. Vancouver is also the jumping off point for cruises up the Inside Passage to Alaska.
Venue
The principal conference hotel will be the four-star Fairmount Hotel Vancouver, the city’s heritage luxury hotel (http://www.fairmont.com/hotelvancouver ). It was one Canada's majestic railway hotels built by the Canadian Pacific Railway. Everything that went into these hotels was the biggest and best of their time and they have become very much a part of Canada's national heritage and identity. The current Hotel Vancouver hotel was opened in May of 1939, in time for the Royal visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Located in the heart of Vancouver’s downtown, the hotel is easy walking distance to Stanley Park, the harbour, Robson Street and Yaletown.
