Abstract: This article reports the results of a survey of American Real Estate Society members
that was designed to investigate both the importance attached to ethical considerations and the performance on various components of ethics of the corporate world and the real estate sector. The results of the survey show that the respondents think that the real estate sector has performed better than the corporate sector at improving ethical performance along five dimensions: trust, fiduciary duty, competence, disclosure and integrity.
