Abstract:   While the Russell-NCREIF Property Index is generally used as the U.S. institutional real estate performance benchmark, other countries do not use it. This article discusses the BOMA-Russell Property Index often used in Australia and the Investment Property  Databank (IPD) Index for the United Kingdom. The background, volatility, method of estimation, composition, and subindices are detailed. Finally, the availability and sources of the indices are provided.
